Background History

Kate Sullivan is the middle child of five born to Edgar and Fiona Sullivan. Always an outgoing person, Kate loved to interact with her schoolmates and her parents discovered early on she had gift for languages. By the time she was 13 she was speaking four earth languages and two extra-terrestrial. She pursued this love of languages throughout her academic career, picking up more languages on her own time.

Kate can listen to people speak and in a very short time begin to dissect their speech pattern and decipher the language. She can do this with the written word as well and has been consulted on many an occasion to decode ancient texts. She was a teacher for a number of years when her older brother Jeremy approached her with a business proposition. They started Sullivan Language Arts, a company that now provides translation software and computing for over 200 organizations within the Federation.

She still teaches from time to time and has upped her language fluency to an impressive seventeen extra-terrestrial and twenty-four earth languages. Kate was instrumental in deciphering an Iconian Codex for the Federation Historical Society. It contained cultural information and no sensitive material so Star Fleet was only loosely involved.

To say that the romance she shares with Captain Danvers was whirlwind would be an understatement. Her connection to the Star Fleet officer was instant and deep. It has moved beyond simple friendship or even love. The bond has made them nearly inseparable. So much so that she has taken a civilian position aboard the U.S.S. Ariadne to be with her. The two have recently married much to the pleasure of the crew, their family, and friends.
